There are no cats in America
Moving to a new country is difficult but if you're a child it seems impossible. True, things had been terrifying with the bombings and soldiers and the news of that their government had been doing behind the country's back. Thirteen years old, but Albert still reads the news, still listens to the radio. Soon after they're on a boat, crammed in with other emigrants chattering in a cacophony of languages, pushing and shoving. There were other children, but mostly Albert opted to keep to himself, helping his mother but otherwise holed up in their tiny shared cabin and waited to see the spines of Lady Liberty's crown welcoming them to what his mother calls "a land of new opportunities". Albert, always a practical child, just hoped it would be a land of fresher air.
It's been a few months since then. They'd arrived at the start of summer with New York City sweltering. With his mother working two jobs and a little saved up, they'd managed to get a small fan and some other things for the little apartment, but despite the hardships they'd managed to make a nice little life for themselves in this new country. Their community on the lower east side is friendly and breathes of home in Dresden, or so Albert feels. He even made friends with the old man who runs the bookshop on the corner, his son having been claimed by the war on the side of the Allies. He'd also been named Albert, and the man would often reminisce in German and sometimes share the haribo candies he'd always have around. He may be the only friend Albert had made, but he was content with that.
Even so, as the weather turned colder and fall set in, Albert's mother enrolled him in school. Albert had always liked school back home, strict as it was, but here in America it seemed all the other boys were so loud and tall and frightening. He'd mostly stayed away from other children since arriving, but now he's been thrown in the front of a class and as the teacher pushes him to introduce himself to the room every eye is on him and he can't help but fidgit and look anywhere except at all the unfamiliar faces.
"Ha-hallo, I-I am Albert Heinrich..." He trails off, brutally self conscious at his accent and flushing a red which he knows reaches his ears. The teacher - Miss Jones - waits for an interminable moment to see if he'll say something else, then simply shoos him to an empty desk with some annoyance and begins to write the day's lesson on the blackboard. Safe for the moment, Albert sinks as low as he can in his seat and pulls his oversized newsy cap down around his ears in an attempt to hide the fact that they're still pink.

The German peeks through his abused fingers, the one he'd bitten still red and raw though the bleeding's stopped, to find Jet's face only inches from his own looking maybe a little nervous. "W-what?"
Had he liked it? What sort of a question is that?!
"Y-yes! Of course I did, I- I mean, it's you, isn't it?" He turns an even brighter red, bordering on cooked lobster, and hides behind his hands again.
Half a second later he can hear footsteps in the hall and Albert dives for his pants in a panicked flurry. If his life were a cartoon, steam would be pouring from his ears.

But he kind of wanted to stay right there. What if he stayed and took care of it..? Maybe that would be too embarrassing.
"I..um...I guess I'll be right back so I can...you know. Since your ma's gone to bed and all." Thank god his blood was too busy elsewhere, otherwise his face might explode from how awkward he felt.

"Why don't we switch places?" He's only blushing a little, somehow made bold by the events of the day. He wants to show Jet how happy he is that things have turned out this way, that they can stay every night huddled together, touching or not as they choose. He stands up, pulling Jet to his feet too, then has a better idea and tugs Jet to lay down on the bed so Albert can see all of him.

The lanky teen moved to the bed and laid out on it, his feet only a couple inches from the edge of the mattress for how tall he was. Laid out like that, with only a pair of boxers and no shirt on, he suddenly felt overly exposed, especially with most of his bruises still clearly visible. Of course, now, they'd have a chance to fade for once, all thanks to Albert and his tough cookie of a mother. It brought a shy smile to his face.
"What d'you want me to do?"

He tries not to frown at the bruises and scars but he can't not notice them with his boyfriend laid out so perfectly on the sheets. Instead of ignoring them or starting with what he'd originally intended, Albert leans in and kisses a bruise - a little one on Jet's shoulder. Then another, this time a scar on his chest, all healed and barely even puckered. He continues as long as Jet will allow, kissing and caressing down the redhead's body as if he could kiss each wound better, heal it out of existence.

Just that thought was nearly overwhelming.
He let Albert kiss them all before working a smile into being steady past all his emotions, his voice was quiet, the only option to not let it crack or become swamped. "Thanks, you kissed them all better...guess I'll be good as gold in no time."
no subject
He leans down to kiss Jet again, on the mouth this time and full of tender affection. It's not what he'd intended at the start, to visit on Jet what Jet had done to him, but it's soft and quiet something he's certain Jet needs. "No one will hurt you, here. I promise, you're safe now."
no subject
He reached up and pulled Albert down into a tight hug. "Thank you." He knew that already, if there was one place he felt safe, it was with Albert, Albert wasn't the type to hurt people he cared about.
His hug tightened and became protective in response to his thoughts. "I'll protect you forever, Al. You've got my back and I've got yours, no matter what."
no subject
He repositions them so Jet's leaning on his shoulder for once, instead of the other way around. Jet may want to protect him, has always protected him, but now that he's succeeded in returning the favor, he wants just once for Jet to be able to lean on him.
Another soft kiss is pressed to Jet's temple as Albert lets his eyes fall closed.

He shifted a bit as though he couldn't get comfortable before finally speaking up, his tone laced in embarrassed self-consciousness.
"Um...Al...you're kind've leaving me hanging here. I'd...really rather not take care of it myself, you know?" He could, he could do it right there on the bed in front of his boyfriend at this point--a thought that was already working him up again--but the thought of Albert putting his hands on Jet sounded so much better to him.
no subject
"Sorry." Albert rises again, propping himself over Jet on his hands and knees. "I'll make it up to you."
How isn't open for debate very long as Albert disappears under the blanket. There's a moment of hesitation, the older boy thinking of how he should start, before he lays a light hand on Jet, stroking up and down slowly on one side. He presses his cheek to the other side lightly a moment later, nuzzling into the flesh gently.

When it came to Albert, Jet was pretty easy.
The younger teen brought the side of his hand to his mouth to keep himself quiet as he tried not to move his hips too much in an effort to get more of that contact.

With a small grin, Albert kisses all the way up Jet's length, then instead of a kiss to the head, he instead rubs the flat of his tongue right on the tip experimentally.

He decided he liked it nearly as much as regular sex and he never would have thought to try it if he hadn't heard it from others.
"Al...that feels good." He tried to keep his voice a whisper, but it half turned into a whimper of need as he said it. He wanted more, he wanted to finish, but he also didn't want to rush or pressure the older boy.
no subject
He could get used to being in charge, if Jet let him.
Carefully, putting one hand on Jet's waist just below the navel to keep him from jerking suddenly, Albert takes the teen under him into his mouth outright, just past the head. He gives a gentle suck, seeing if that elicits a good reaction.

The German boy's name came out breathy and strained with his attempt to keep himself quiet. Maybe it was from working Albert up initially, but Jet was already overly-sensitive before, now it was pushing him closer and closer to that edge a lot faster than before.
no subject
He's twitching and quivering and Albert's in awe that he's the one that can do that to Jet, that he has so much power over his redhead.
no subject
"Albert--I..."
Every muscle went taut throughout his body as he reached that edge and fell over it. He came hard and it left him a boneless mess in Albert's bed. The only part of that he regretted was that he didn't get to see his boyfriend doing it.
no subject
"Satisfied now?" He can't help but smirk, nuzzling his nose against Jet's cheek maybe a bit awkwardly, but still in an affectionate way as he reaches over to drape his arm across the other boy's chest.
no subject
He knew he didn't really have to thank his friend, but he wanted to. For everything he'd done over the last week, all the change and hope he'd brought into Jet's life, Jet never wanted to stop thanking him.
"I'm lucky to have you." That was the last thing his sleepy inhibitionless brain came up with before his breathing evened out and left him in a doze.
no subject
And even then, Jet's already asleep when he finally starts to drift off. "I'm the lucky one."
